Dr. Stanley Lang

I am Stanley Lang and have been a family doctor for more than 30 years.    I have a passion for health and helping people stay well— we call this “wellness”.   I wish to clarify that my main two passions are God and Family (in that order)— but then helping people be healthy is the next one in importance.   I might tell a little story here.    The first day of medical school the Dean of the school spoke to the assembled students and said “if you want to be a good and successful doctor you must place medicine first in your life”.  He went on to say “I don’t care if you put God or Family second but you must put medicine first”.

I tell this story to give you a sense of what I am about.  I immediately rebelled against this “advice” and decided then that I would maintain a balance in my life that reflected my priorities.    Within this third passion, health and wellness, I have continued to grow in the direction of mixing (integrating) traditional medicine and so called “alternative” strategies that help people be healthy.   I call this  “Wholistic Health”.

I have been a pioneer in Wholistic Health for over 30 years and one of the  doctors who began to explore how to increase health of the body by seeing and treating each person in a wholistic way. What this means is that I view each person as body/mind/ spirit.   I fervently believe that if you want to be really well, you need to be really well in all of these areas.

Over the years I discovered many different strategies and practices that help people be more healthy. I have been and continue to be a family doctor trained in the traditional ways of practicing medicine. What I have learned and discovered is how a variety of “non-medication” strategies can minimize the need for medication and in some cases even reverse disease.  In many cases I have discovered how these strategies can be added to traditional medicine to improve outcomes for patients.   I consider it a victory when I can help somebody eliminate the need for a medication through natural means.

Lets look at  the role of the body (as opposed to mind and spirit) as it pertains to being well.     A great example of the kind of balance that I encourage is in the realm of exercise.    Balance in exercise means having  a great balance between aerobic, flexibility and strength.  I have discovered the very best ways to achieve this through practices called  Chi Walking, Chi Running and Core Strength Training.  I have also sought out many nutritional supplement strategies that do tremendous things in the body to reverse the effects of disease and help to keep people looking and feeling great-and younger!

Over 30 years I have learned (regarding these alternative strategies) what few people know: what is the junk, the fads and what is effective and safe. I am one of the people in this country that can guide someone through the maze of confusion. Whether it is feeling more energy, loosing weight, controlling fibromyalgia, controlling diabetes and many others, there are effective and safe things you can do to be more healthy – and unfortunately there are some strategies that are just plain stupid and in some cases, dangerous. I know the difference.

There are many strategies to help the mind help the body be more healthy. Exercise, relaxation strategies and some nutritional supplements can really help the mind be at peace and in balance-this has an inevitable (good) effect on the body. I am one of what is probably a small number of people who can integrate the physical things I mentioned above with “the things of the mind” to help you be as healthy as possible.

Of greatest importance, there are many things that can be done with the spiritual life that can help the body be more healthy. There is a right way and a wrong way to “do the spiritual life”. Do you know the pitfalls?  Do you know how to bring your spiritual life into your physical wellness program in an effective and safe way? If you don’t, I may be able to point you in the right direction.

Now finally I want to mention financial health. It is obvious to most people how and why financial health is crucial to overall health. Certainly in my medical encounters the financial situation of the person is one of the most important aspects of their overall health.  Talk about stress!! When your income source is “iffy” or you really don’t like going into your job, it really helps to have a “Plan B” so that you can create real and significant money. The question is, how do you squeeze a home business into your busy day without destroying balance in your life?    Of course I can’t answer that question for you but it does need to be answered by you if you want to have wellness (unless of course you are already wealthy!).     Let me just point to a concept:  we all need to have a Balanced Business, one that fits the context of our life.   Our team can help you if you are confused about how to do this.

My hope for you is that you will discover what you need for “Wholistic Health“. I am happy to help you if you need some help. Until we meet again, have a blessed day.
